Eric Church and Luke Combs Create Change for the Carolinas
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, country stars Eric Church and Luke Combs have teamed up to create the event of the century to benefit those in need.
According to NBC, at least 223 people have died since Helene first made landfall in Florida on September 26. As of October 4, at least 700,000 people in Virginia, Georgia, and the Carolinas are still without access to power. Areas like Asheville, NC have been hit the hardest, as police are still "working actively on 75 missing person cases" as of early October.
On September 28, Church took to social media to share his thoughts with fans. “I’m devastated by the destruction in the mountains of western North Carolina,” Church states, “Anyone who knows anything about me knows what North Carolina and specifically this area in the mountains means to me personally as well as creatively.”
Less than a week later, Church announced Concert for Carolina, a festival designed to give back to the families affected by Hurricane Helene. Church will headline the concert along with fellow country star Luke Combs, who shared his excitement with fans on Instagram. “I told y’all I had something big planned for Carolina,” he expressed, “This concert took so much planning, work, and coordination from so many people. I’m so thankful to everyone who helped make this a possibility on such short notice.”
The concert will feature other big-name artists like Billy Strings, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, and Bailey Zimmerman, just to name a few. All ticket proceeds will go towards Hurricane Helene relief efforts in the Carolinas.
