Harry Styles Participates in MusiCares Charity Relief Auction

Harry Styles was one of many artists to participate in MusiCares Charity Relief Auction on September 9th. The auction was held online through Julien’s Auctions and auctioned off numerous big-name musician’s instruments, costumes and other items. Styles’ cherry red Gibson Memphis ES335 guitar was among one of the top selling items selling at just under $30,000- almost 10 times its assessed value of $3000. The guitar was signed by Styles along with the message “Treat people with kindness”.

The charity auction raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. Alongside Harry Style’s guitar other notable auction items included a Gucci metallic blue tracksuit with red, white and blue stripes which was owned and worn by Elton John, a Taylor Academy Guitar signed by Taylor Swift and a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driven by Bubba Wallace in the 2018 Daytona 500. The largest bid was Bill Wyman’s custom Mesa/Boogie bass amplifier high used during The Rolling Stone’s 1990 Urban Jungle World Tour.

MusiCares was created by the Recording Academy as a charity which helps musicians in need, the charity is dedicated to ensuring the music community has the support and resources needed. Money from the auction was split between the MusiCares' COVID-19 Relief fund, which goes towards musicians and crew members in the music community struggling as a result of a the global pandemic, and the Grand Ole Opry Trust Fund. MusiCare also announced they would have another online auction through Julien’s Auctions in January 2020.
